What is Exposed Skin Care?
Exposed skin care is an extensive acne treatment line that treats and prevents acne breakouts, while repairing and rejuvenating your skin. The major difference between exposed skin care vs Proactiv or similar big box brands is that the ingredients they use are far more natural and less likely to cause unwanted side effects.
Something that is becoming increasingly important in the world of skin care and especially acne treatment.
Unlike most other acne products that focus on cleansing and clearing current breakouts, Exposed Skin Care targets acne prevent for long term skin health. And here’s how…
There are 9 core products in the Exposed Acne Treatment Line.
Exposed Skin Care Facial Cleanser
The first step in this line is the exposed facial cleanser, designed to be gentle on your sensitive skin, but effective at penetrating the pores and killing acne-causing bacteria at the source.
The Exposed Skin Care facial cleanser is soap-free, non-comedogenic and even hypo-allergenic.
Free from skin irritating ingredients like lauryl and laureth sulfates, it combines natural and scientific ingredients like salicylic acid, pro vitamin B5 and sage extract instead.
Exposed Skin Care Clearing Tonic
Following the Exposed facial cleanser is the clearing tonic. It is designed to restore your skin’s balance after cleansing, while tackling blackheads and whiteheads.
Natural ingredients like Green Tea Extract and Passion Flower soothe your skin and prepare it for Step 3: the Acne Treatment Serum.
All in all, a fairly necessary part of any acne treatment regime.
Exposed Skin Care Acne Treatment Serum
Acne serums are designed to prevent acne from even starting by balancing your skin’s hormones and pH levels. Unlike moisturizers, they are lighter on the skin.
Their role is to keep your skin in contact with all of their healing ingredients, without clogging the pores by locking them in. For this reason it is best to apply the Exposed Skin Care Acne Treatment Serum at night time where you are less likely to rub it off your skin, and it can do it’s job.
This particular acne serum is a preventative measure. It contains 3.5% benzoyl peroxide which kills bacteria before acne even has the chance to form.
Exposed Skin Care Clear Pore Serum
Unlike the acne treatment serum mentioned above, the Exposed Skin Care Clear Pore Serum is reparative. When applied at night, it allows your skin plenty of time to soak in all the healing powers from the natural ingredients and restore your skin to a healthy, glowing state.
So in other words, it’s the perfect serum to apply to your skin right before going to bed. A great chance to wake up in the morning with that clear perfect skin.
Exposed Skin Care Moisture Complex
One of the biggest faux pas people commit when they have acne is avoiding using moisturizing cream because they think it’s oily and will further exacerbate their breakouts. This simply is not true, especially when you have the right moisturizer.
The Exposed Moisture Complex is an oil-free moisturizer that hydrates your skin, while stimulating skin cell rejuvenation with ingredients like caffeine and green tea extract.
Exposed Skin Care Clarifying Mask
Whether it’s a full blown breakout or a solo pimple, the Exposed Clarifying Mask will help you absorb excess oil and slough away impurities that are making your skin look sallow.
Ingredients like Activated Charcoal and Bentonite are known for their ability to absorb toxins, impurities and oil, while leaving your skin feeling fresh and clean.
This mask is not meant for everyday use. One to two times weekly is more than enough to enjoy its benefits, otherwise you risk drying your skin out and exacerbating your acne.
Exposed Skin Care Microderm Scrub
Gentle, regular exfoliation is recommended for healthy skin. Exfoliation works to slough away dead skin cells, bacteria, oil and grime that builds up in your pores and makes your complexion look dull.
The Exposed Microderm Scrub uses tiny micro crystals to clear away impurities and smooth your skin’s natural texture.
Be mindful when using this product as you can rub your skin raw if you scrub it in too hard or too frequently. It is best used every other day rather than daily.
Exposed Skin Care Probiotic Complex
Beautiful, acne free skin starts from the inside out and that’s where the Exposed Probiotic Complex comes in.
Helping restore balance inside your body, this complex also helps boost your immune system by providing it with vitamins and minerals needed to support your skin.
I little unorthodox, but definitely effective especially when it comes to long term benefits.
Exposed Skin Care Body Wash
Because acne doesn’t confine itself to just your face, the Exposed Body Wash is great for treating and preventing back acne and other forms of body acne.
This body wash combines medicinal acne ingredients with natural extracts to gently exfoliate and purify your skin all over. In the end, you’ll feel fully refreshed and ready for the day.
Use this in replacement to your normal store bought body wash.
Exposed Skin Care Ingredients
Exposed prides itself on combining the best of nature with science to create its acne treatment kits.
Here’s a breakdown of it’s key ingredients,
Natural Exposed Skin Care Ingredients
Green Tea Extract
Green tea is a potent antioxidant that has been proven to treat acne even when applied topically. In fact, there have even been studies to prove its effects on acne prone skin.
While drinking green tea can help flush your body from acne causing toxins, applying it in lotions or creams can help fight acne just as effectively as medicinal ingredients like Benzoyl Peroxide.
Passion Flower Extract
Another key natural ingredient in Exposed products is passion flower extract. This ingredient, made from the blossoms of passion flowers is used to reduce inflammation in the skin. Another benefit is that it moderates insulin levels which can cause hormonal acne flare ups.
Licorice Root Extract
Licorice root has been used for centuries thanks to its skin benefiting properties — especially for those with sensitive skin.
This extract fights against free radicals, soothes irritated skin, and helps moderate your skin’s natural oil production. It is also considered nature’s substitute for hydroquinone, making it effective at reducing the appearance of acne scars.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil is another ingredient that has been around for generations. It contains natural antibiotic and antifungal properties that kill acne causing bacteria on contact, while also toning your skin for a more even complexion.
A common skin care treatment, aloe vera is known for it’s healing and hydrating properties. Similar to how it soothes sunburnt skin, aloe vera soothes acne riddled skin, reducing itching and irritation that makes breakouts uncomfortable.
Similar to aloe vera, but slightly more potent, sage extract soothes skin irritation caused by acne breakouts and hydrates your skin as well.
Sage extract also contains powerful antioxidants that promote healthier, stronger skin cells for beautiful skin, longer.
Scientific Exposed Skin Care Ingredients
Benzoyl peroxide is one of the most common ingredients in acne treatments today because it is powerful at killing acne causing bacteria on the skin as well as deep in your pores.
This organic peroxide also helps moderate your skin’s natural oil production, which is one of the top four causes for acne breakouts.
Salicylic Acid (BHA)
Another common ingredient, this mild acid works to kill bacteria on your skin’s surface that is clogging your pores. But it doesn’t stop there, it also helps tighten your pores so the chances of them getting clogged reduces in the future.
Glycolic Acid (AHA)
This ingredient is actually quite common in anti aging products because it doesn’t just treat your surface layer of skin, but works deep down on your dermis.
Similar to BHA it breaks down dead skin cells but not the same way. Rather than sloughing these cells away to unclog pores, it breaks them down to reveal fresh, younger looking skin. In addition to this it also helps rebuild your natural collagen for stronger skin.
Sulfur is one of the more drying agents in this acne treatment system, but when used properly it effectively absorbs excess oil and unclogs pores without sucking all the moisture from your skin.
This ingredient is best used for excessive acne breakouts and in moderation.
Acne forms when there is an excess buildup of skin cells around follicles. Azelaic acid opens up the follicle by regulating the shedding of skin cells.
It is also effective at preventing acne causing bacteria from growing.
Does Exposed Skin Care Work?
At this point you’re probably dying to know, “does Exposed skin care really work?”
With so many products available in this acne treatment kit, the answer is not as simple as ‘yes’ or ‘no.’
When used all together and as recommended, the entire kit can be incredibly effective at tackling acne and preventing future breakouts. Here’s a little look at our Exposed Skin Care review of what you can expect from each individual product.
The Product Break Down
The Exposed Skin Care Facial Cleanser is quite mild and definitely gentle enough to use on sensitive skin. Unlike some cleansers that leave your skin feeling dehydrated and chapped, you will feel clean, but still moisturized.
The Exposed Skin Care Clearing Tonic is effective on really bad breakouts, but we found it to be a little on the acidic side. What we mean is it felt harsh on our skin. It didn’t have any burning sensation, but it definitely felt like it was stripping your skin of oil, bacteria and moisture.
It is not a product you could apply and walk away without moisturizing after, that’s for sure.
The Exposed Skin Care Acne Treatment Serum is supposed to be a day treatment, but we did not find it was a realistic day time product. After using it as an all over face serum the first time, we did not make that mistake again (too drying for mild breakouts). Instead, we used it like a spot treatment and opted to use it before bed only.
This one has a strong licorice scent so if that’s not your fave, you may not enjoy using it. As far as application goes, this serum feels heavy and gooey going on, but we found it seriously reduced redness and swelling in pimples when left on overnight.
The Exposed Skin Care Clear Pore Serum was designed to be used overnight, but we found it light enough to apply during the day too. Containing tea tree oil it crushes blackheads and minimizes the appearance of pores for a more even complexion.
Unlike the acne treatment serum it was not nearly as drying.
Every good acne kit needs a good moisturizer to lock in hydration, but we found that Exposed Skin Care Moisture Complex fell a little flat in making our skin feel moisturized.
We were expecting a lotion or cream-like consistency, but the Exposed Moisture Complex was more like a gel.
While this moisturizer does lock in hydration thanks to its silicone based ingredients, it just doesn’t feel like it.
A major plus is that it doesn’t leave your skin looking oily or greasy though. It offers a smooth, matte finish.
The Exposed Skin Care Clarifying Mask contains sulfur so it has a less than fresh scent. We can’t deny that the bentonite and activated charcoal make this clarifying mask incredibly effective, especially when you are suffering from more serious breakouts.
We recommend using this mask only once a week to avoid irritating your skin, but we were pleasantly surprised by how fresh and clean we felt afterwards. Unlike the serums, your skin won’t feel parched and thirsty for moisture, but we do recommend moisturizing right after use.
Perhaps one of our fave products in this kit was the Exposed Skin Care Microderm Scrub. While we definitely liked the facial cleanser, it was this scrub that we loved.
The micro crystals are tiny enough that they do not rub your skin raw and irritate current acne, but still offer a nice gentle exfoliation.
In fact, we prefered this microscrub to the cleanser, but if you have more sensitive or damaged skin we do not recommend using it more than a few times a week.
Probiotics are great for balancing your insides and helping your immune system fight against buildup, inflammation and flush toxins. The Exposed Skin Care Probiotic Complex contains many vitamins, minerals and extracts to help aid your digestion clear away impurities that can be inflaming acne from the inside out.
Unlike topical products where you can see fast (if not instant) results, we are unsure how effective these probiotics are in reducing acne. What we can say is that maintaining a healthy diet and supplementing with a good probiotic for healthy digestion can be effective in the long run.
Finally, let’s talk about the Exposed Skin Care Body Wash. If you suffer from back acne or other body breakouts then you know this can be hard to treat and almost more embarrassing than facial acne.
The Exposed body wash is a fresh scented body was with tiny exfoliating microbeads and will leave your skin feeling buffed and clean.
Containing salicylic acid to keep your pore clear, pro-vitamin B5 to regulate your skin’s natural oil production and sage extract to detoxify, you will likely notice results in just a few short days. The best part is it smells great and doesn’t dry your skin out.
The Exposed Skin Care before and after pics just go to prove how effective this kit can be as a whole. Here are a few of our fave Exposed before and after shots:
Want to hear more about Exposed skin care results? Here’s what a few other real customers have had to say about it:
“I am 30 years old and I have tried just about everything on the market but Exposed Skin Care is the first product that has worked. My results have been life changing, for the first time I don’t feel like I have to have make-up on to leave the house. Thank you!”
Maureen – Tulsa, OK
And this from Sara…
“I sent my old Proactiv bottles in for the extra discount on the 4-step system. I was expecting something very similar to Proactiv, but I was really surprised just how much better the Exposed method really was. Proactive was able to clear up most of my acne but I would always seem to suffer from cycles of slight breakouts, redness and dryness. With the Exposed acne solution, the breakouts never returned. Exposed seems to be more effective in balancing out my skin and keeping it constantly clear. Thanks Exposed.”

Another cost benefit of Exposed is that they offer a One Year Money Back Guarantee. If at any time during your first year of purchase you are unsatisfied, simply send it back and get your money back.
Where to Buy Exposed Skin Care
The best place to buy Exposed Skin Care online is on their official website. You can find their products on sites like eBay and Amazon, but they do not offer the 1-year money back guarantee, nor can they guarantee quality.
The official website offers two ways to pay, through an auto-ship program or as a one-time purchase (though prices vary slightly).
Our Stripped Down Score
Exposed Skin Care is a win for the once chemically dominated acne industry in terms of a movement towards more natural ingredients. The results are not lightening fast, however they sure last longer and lack the unnecessary side effects from big box brands like Proactiv and Clearasil. Our recommendation? Start with a basic kit and go from there.
