How do you treat acne?

Let’s see, there are acne spot treatments, facial cleansers, acne face masks, supplements, medications, spa treatments.

You name it and there is likely at least one article on the internet telling you that it is a viable cure for acne.

Special diets, hormonal remedies, acupuncture, or exercise. The list goes on.

And today we’re going to add to that list with blue light therapy.

What Is Blue Light Acne Treatment

Blue light acne treatment, or blue light therapy, is the use of blue light (obviously!). Spa and at home blue light machines are positioned overtop of your face, or wherever else you experience acne.

According the studies, blue light actually kills Propionbacterium acnes (P acnes, for short). P acnes are responsible for causing inflammation and also present in your oil glands.

The warmth from the blue light shrinks your oil glands leading to less bacteria under your skin.

Who Can Benefit from Blue Light Therapy?

Blue light treatment is effective for anyone with acne. Dermatologists have found that at home blue light machines, like Blue MD (which we’re about to dish about in a minute) can treat not only mild, but moderate and severe cases of cystic acne. These machines can even help you treat acne scars.

Blue light therapy is not recommended for those who are taking acne medication like Accutane because these meds make your skin more sensitive.

What is Blue MD

Blue MD is a revolutionary at-home acne treatment machine that uses the power of pulsating blue light to target and eliminate acne causing bacteria.

Blue MD comes with:

  • 120 bulb LED light panel
  • Flexible arm
  • Power adapter
  • Protective goggles
  • Sturdy base featuring a 5 minute timer
  • User manual

How Does Blue MD Work?

So how does Blue MD work exactly? First and foremost we want to ease your fears and let you know that no UV light or lasers are used here.

And if that wasn’t good enough news, this is a pain free procedure that helps you banish blemishes, reduce inflammation and erase acne scars.

The Blue MD uses the exact same quality of wavelengths used in clinics and spas, but these places charges upwards of $1000 per session.

More specifically the LED light panel contains 120 bulbs. They are divided into 60 blue 420nm bulbs, 40 red 660nm bulbs and 20 Infrared 880 nm bulbs that penetrate your skin at different depths.

Fun fact: Infrared light is not detected by the naked eye so the two rows containing Infrared bulbs will not appear to illuminate when the device is on. Don’t’ worry though, this is totally normal and they are in fact working!

How to Use Blue MD

With the Blue MD you can get comfy and cozy because it’s an at home blue light machine. Simply use the flexible arm to position the light panel over your face, adjust your safety eye goggles, hit the on switch and wait for the timer to beep.

Many users have found that a double session (two 5 minute sessions) helps target their face more efficiently for more severe acne. To do this, simple place the lamp over one side of your face (lie sideways) and then alternate to the opposite side.

Trophy Skin recommends using acne light therapy 3 times a week at minimum to see best results.

You can use Blue MD on any part of your body suffering from acne. If you are looking to get rid of back acne, treat facial blemishes or even target your chest, shoulders or arms, simply place the device over the desired area.

The machine is shockingly sturdy for its size, so we don’t see you traveling with it anytime soon. Simply put, it’s better for at home acne treatment than on the go.

Blue MD Side Effects

There are very few negative Blue MD side effects documented.

It is important to note that blue light can make your skin more vulnerable to UV exposure. If you expect to be out in the sun, be sure to slather on a nice thick layer of SPF or cover yourself up with long sleeved clothing and a wide brimmed hat.

As far as blue light acne treatment side effects go, your local physican or dermatologist will likely warn you about 3 minor ones:

  • Swelling
  • Dryness
  • Temporary pigment change

None of these symptoms are permanent and are very unlikely to occur. If, however, you do experience any of these symptoms we suggest you stop using the Blue MD immediately.

Blue MD Results

Now let’s get down to the good stuff and talk about a few of the Blue MD reviews we have heard from real users.

“I was desperate for something to work on my adult on-set cystic/hormonal acne in my chin and jawline area, without having to take harmful drugs. I had done my search on blue light therapy, and there were a few options for at home use.

I decided to make the investment on this guy, and I’m so glad I did! I’ve been using it for about a month and a half now. I’m not claiming it’s a miracle worker, but my cystic acne has been significantly reduced, and healing time is much quicker! “ Rebecca D

“I saw results within the first week. I have horrible breakouts and scarring on my back. I also use it on my face and chest area. I love that it only takes 5 minutes per area. I use it on 5 different areas so only taking 25 minutes out of my day 1-2 times a day is manageable. If I had to take 15-20 minutes on each area I would not have the time or patience to use this.

I highly recommend this product to anyone who struggles with acne. I use to spend $90/session to get back facials which used this same device. I wish I would have bought this years ago instead of spending all my money and time getting this same thing through a business.” – Amy H

“I just got my Blue Light about three weeks ago, and I must say my skin is definitely improving. Is drying up fast, when before it took weeks to do so, and by then, I had a fresh batch of cystic acne all over the place. I had a few breakouts but was told that was normal, because all the bad stuff is coming out of my face.

I am currently using it twice a day, morning and nights. When my skin is blemish free I will do it three times a week twice a day. But so far is helping my skin get rid of cystic acne on my temple, forehead, chin and lower part of the cheeks.” – Gloria M
